flying worms?? sounds like you have weird creatures on that side of the mountains.
Hey! I just learned from Martha Stewart that you can create beds over grass by putting a couple layers of newspaper down and then put topsoil on top of it. Then you can just plant your flowers over the grass and it'll eventually compost underneath! But of course if you wanted to plant things deeper, ripping out the grass is essential :)
Just something I read in her gardening mag!
Looks like exercize with a purpose and fun result...
