Another fun musical find...

So some of you probably already know this (as did Matt Bayley who told me about it today), but what a cool idea!

Like The Human Genome Project has set out to discover/label all genes found in our DNA, so Pandora has set out to analyze a LOT of the world's music, link it to many other types of music of its "kind" and group it. So type in a kind of music or artist you like and it searches its databases of all other kinds of music with similarities - some you may know, many you may not.

Are you in a "Cold Play" kind of mood? A "Watermark" kind of mood? A "Journey" kind of mood? Type them in and you get variety within a genre of a play list/jukebox around 40ish songs... PLUS if you like a song, there's an immediate way to buy it for all you MP3ers out there (no, I'm still not one of you since I can't think of a time when I would be exercising and not wanting to hear what Sarah says...). I'm going to try it out for a while (it's free) as background music... Let me know what you think if you try it.

Amazingly...

Beautiful music of a beautiful savior...

Flashback Friday

The Bachelorette Par-tay
The Kiss
First Dance "Come Away With Me"
Dancing with Dad to "Unforgettable"
The Reception
MUCH dancing afterward - probably my favorite part!
Luminarias were super fun/romantic/Southwest
Quotes about love on table courtesy of my good friend Joey...
The Cake
It's amazing that I don't have more digital pics of our wedding and really don't want to take the time now to scan them all in (but it'd probably be a good project to do sometime as a way to back them up...), but I hope those of you who didn't get to come to our wedding feel like you caught a glimpse!

just a quote i like....

"Be kind, for everyone you meet is fighting a hard battle."
- Plato

I think that the reason I like it (other than that Jesus embodied perfect kindness for us to model)
is that it communicates an "others" emphasis - not just awareness - and certainly not an egocentric one...

Reconnecting a bit

It's fun to connect in person for a change!
Got to see some friends/friends who blog this weekend at Christie's wedding... SOOO good to give them a hug, hear their voices, and chat real-time! We talked about how good/bad blogs are to keep people connected, and don't substitute for the real face to face connection that is so important. I love technology sometimes, but I love hanging out in person so much more... I'm SO looking forward to a girls' night this week to stay up too late, talk about things that really matter now, and for eternity... For those of you who I got to see, you are a blessing! For those of you who I didn't, well you're a blessing too, and let's hang out soon!

Identity

Lately, Sarah's been grappling with the concept of identity...
I am NOT a penguin!
I am a watermelon!
I am not a person...
I am a person...

I am a sweetie gwerl! (girl)

Mommy is a gwerl, Daddy is a boy...

etc.

Not sure what Sartre would have to say about that but...
(Remember, he's the "I think, therefore I am" guy...)

When I was not quite two (I think) my Aunt Judi gave me the lion outfit that Sarah's wearing in the video. Note the 70's green polyester - gotta love it! The reason it's still around is because it is/was my dad's favorite outfit on me from when I was little and somehow survived all the basement clean-outs my mom has done through the years, but after one of the latest clean-outs it migrated to our house... Sarah has been requesting to wear it a lot lately even though it's getting a bit high water on her. Just a short, fun clip. I know that we know this since many of us are mom's... Sometimes we just need to write posts to get out
pics and videos to the family...
So here's a shamelessly gratuitous post of our Sweetie Gwerl!

South 47 Farm

This morning at the farm we...

played with beans and grains

pretended to be a scarecrow...

picked an onion or two (since Daddy's away at a golf tournament he won't mind if we have onions with dinner!)...

Found a summer squash, and learned about worms (another post altogether), and made a caterpillar...

Sarah LOVED the wagon ride behind the tractor!
Almost 3 feet tall

First picture that Sarah has taken (my rain coat)

Not pictured: playing with worms, feeding goats and alpacas out of our hands, thoroughly WASHING our hands, and tromping through fields.
A perfect morning for an adventurous girl!
