I gave this poem to my middle-schoolers a few years ago to figure out... Can you?
Metaphors
I'm a riddle in nine syllables
I'm an elephant, a ponderous house,
A melon strolling on two tendrils.
O red fruit, ivory, fine timbers!
This loaf's big with its yeasty rising.
Money's new-minted in this fat purse.
I'm a means, a stage, a cow in calf.
I've eaten a bag of green apples.
I've boarded the train, there's no getting off.

Okay, so I've thought it through...came back and read it again...still, no idea.
for some reason I'm thinking fall, maybe thanksgiving...I probably totally way off base.
I love riddles, but this one is beyond my deductive reasoning... looking forward to the answer!
I was wondering if I would click on the comments to see the answer I don't have yet. Glad I don't but it will be fun to see what it is.
